PUSPAKOM Sdn Bhd (“PUSPAKOM”) continues to advance the future of vehicle inspections with its AI-powered Undercarriage Inspection System at the launch of Jelajah Malaysia Digital 2026. This latest development reinforces PUSPAKOM’s commitment to innovation and the use of AI to ensure faster, smarter and more consistent inspection services to helpmake the roads safer for everyone.
PUSPAKOM is leading the way as the first vehicle inspection body in Malaysia to deploy AI-assisted undercarriage inspection technology, reinforcing its commitment to innovation while
supporting Malaysia's digital economy agenda.
Developed in collaboration with Malaysian technology company Keymag Sdn. Bhd., PUSPAKOM's AI-powered undercarriage inspection system automates vehicle component and defect detection through intelligent image analysis. The system is capable of detecting defects such as corrosion, oil leaks, brake system faults, axle defects and structural damage with greater consistency while significantly improving inspection efficiency.
PUSPAKOM Chief Executive Officer, Mahmood Razak Bahman, said the adoption of AI marks another important milestone in the company's journey to modernise vehicle inspections through
innovation.
"AI is enabling us to redefine how vehicle inspections are conducted. By integrating AI into our inspection processes, we are improving operational efficiency, enhancing inspection consistency and delivering a better customer experience without compromising the integrity of statutory vehicle inspections," said Mahmood.
He continued, "At PUSPAKOM, we are leveraging AI not simply to introduce new technology, but to create meaningful benefits for our customers, road users and the wider community. By reducing inspection time and improving operational efficiency, AI delivers tangible value to commercial vehicle drivers whose livelihoods depend on productivity."
"For example, reducing the time required for an AI-powered undercarriage inspection from ten minutes to about one minute, a reduction of nearly 90 percent of the time gives a lorry driver approximately ten additional minutes that can be spent on making deliveries, serving customers or simply getting home sooner. In an industry where time is money, this is invaluable. At the same time, these efficiency gains allow us to inspect more vehicles each hour, increasing service capacity, reducing waiting times and contributing to a safer and more efficient transportation ecosystem for all Malaysians," he added.
Currently deployed on PUSPAKOM's Mobile Truck Service (“MTS”) for heavy commercial vehicles, the AI-powered undercarriage inspection system enables faster inspections while maintaining the rigour and integrity of statutory vehicle inspections.
While AI significantly enhances inspection speed, accuracy and consistency, it does not replace humanexpertise. Final pass or fail decisions continue to be made solely by PUSPAKOM's trained Vehicle Examiners ("VE"), with the AI system serving as an intelligent decision-support tool that identifies potential anomalies for further verification. The system also provides digital inspection records that strengthen transparency and support objective verification should inspection findings be disputed. This ensures every statutory inspection continues to meet the highest standards of safety, professionalism and regulatory compliance.
Beyond undercarriage inspections, PUSPAKOM is also expanding its AI capabilities through the development of ASTRA, an above-carriage inspection solution being developed in collaboration with Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (“UTHM”). Together with future AI-powered tyre inspection capabilities, these initiatives form part of PUSPAKOM's long-term roadmap towards intelligent vehicle inspections and continuous innovation. These innovations will be deployed over the next 24 months in
stages.
At the launch of Jelajah Malaysia Digital 2026, attendees had the opportunity to witness a live demonstration of PUSPAKOM's AI-powered undercarriage inspection system during the VIP walkabout, as well as learn more about the company's digital transformation initiatives through a dedicated sharing session.
As part of the programme, PUSPAKOM is offering 40 complimentary Private Vehicle Inspection(“PVI”) slots. The complimentary inspections are available through pre-registration, while walk-in inspections will be accommodated subject to availability.
Following the Damansara Damai launch, PUSPAKOM’s journey with Jelajah Malaysia Digital will continue at a subsequent event, further extending the reach of its innovative vehicle inspection technologies and services closer to other communities.
Looking ahead, PUSPAKOM will continue to leverage AI and emerging technologies to drive innovation in vehicle inspections, strengthen road safety and deliver trusted, efficient and customer-centric services for Malaysians.
